The spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran said in his press conference that the status of more than two million Afghan nationals in Iran is being organized, and more than 352,000 have returned to Afghanistan since the beginning of this year.

Ali Zeynivand, on Saturday, while explaining the latest statistics on foreign nationals in Iran, said: Two million, 431 thousand, 895 people have official residency documents, and the status of about two million, 130 thousand others is being organized.

Zeynivand added: Since the beginning of the year, 352,131 people have returned to Afghanistan, some of whom were sent back at the border itself because they did not have identity documents or legal documents, and some voluntarily took action to return.

He said: The latest statistics from our Bureau of Foreign Nationals show that we have four million, 563 thousand, 118 identified foreign nationals in the country, who are primarily our Afghan brothers and sisters.

The spokesperson of Iran's Ministry of Interior continued: Of this number, two million, 431 thousand, 895 people have official residency documents and have been legally identified, and two million, 130 thousand are in the process of being organized; meaning their identity documents have been identified and the necessary temporary documents are being given to them.

He emphasized: In reality, we must know where everyone who enters our country lives and what their situation is. Therefore, the Ministry of Interior, despite the war and the issues that have arisen, has not suspended the policy of organizing foreign nationals, and this work is being carried out and is being pursued with good coordination and interaction.

Zeynivand also spoke about the latest status of the establishment of the National Migration Organization, saying that the specialized commissions of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) have approved this matter, and it has now been referred to the Guardian Council and their Research Center, and is under review.
